ASAP runs training programs for therapists once they have completed the entry level of training required by their professional body. Currently in the case of physiotherapists this is the Level 1 Integrative Acupuncture Training Program accredited and run through the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

The ADNG (Acupuncture and Dry Needling Group) of the APA is in the process of developing a new model of training  which we hope will lead to a pathway toward APA  tiled status. This is not to be confused with titling as an Acupuncturist for which currently there is no pathway other than through the Chinese Medicine Registration Board (CMRB).

Consequently there is no Level 1 Training in 2015. It is recommended that candidates interested in studying acupuncture should consider doing a DN course as this will likely form the entry level for further training. Any DN course should be an APA accredited one to satisfy the requirements for further training. Accredited DN courses from overseas will be accepted provided they are comparably to APA standards.
