This course builds upon the foundational knowledge of IAT level 1 and IAT Level 2.
The theoretical scope of Acupuncture Oriental Medicine is vast. In IAT we have tried to pair down the theory as much as possible to that which is most clinically relevant in this day and age. In Level 3 there will be a more in depth exploration of the 8 extraordinary meridians. These channels may used as an alternative to the root treatment base of meridian therapy when conditions perhaps have not responded to classic meridian therapy. This is especially the case with certain digestive problems, sleep disturbances and issues involving zones of the body controlled by these channels. Knowledge of the application of these channels is invaluable.
We will be introducing an entirely new approach to hara palpation which is based on techniques developed by Tanioka sensei called Dashin. This unique technique comprises auscultation of the abdomen and interpreting the audible gas sounds. What’s particularly useful with this technique is that the sounds change immediately with correct treatment and the patient can feel and hear these changes unlike 5 phase hara palpation and pulse.
There will be further training in the use of the Shonishin tool or Tai Shin and a methodology for treating some common paediatric conditions. This tool is very useful in adults and is applied to larger areas where the condition of the skin is either tense and dry or where the subcutaneous fascia is tethered for example on the skull. It’s deeply relaxing, children and sensitive patients find the sensation very pleasant.
The three day training will comprise a few lectures, practical demonstrations with plenty of time to practice these new skills. The lectures will be available on line after the course rather than before as they will make more sense once you’ve received the topic live. This level of training will involve a lot of repetition of needling and palpation methods and Trish and Paula will be keenly watching and correcting your ‘form’. Paula will endeavour to get a few of her patients along so you can see how she treats.
The IAT Level 3 Training is worth 60 CPD points.
